IMM Focal Study Discusses Muhammadiyah and the 2024 Election.

 The Muhammadiyah Student Association Alumni Family Forum (FOKAL IMM) held a recitation on the theme of Muhammadiyah and the 2024 Election which was held online on Sunday (25/09/2023).

 is an Islamic organization that was present before Indonesia became independent in 1945. Based on minutes from both history and political conferences, Muhammadiyah has always played an active role, because it believes that Islam and politics are inseparable. In line with the decisions of the 44th congress in 2000, Muhammadiyah citizens need to take part and not be apathetic in political life through various channels in a positive way as a form of muamalah. 

"In terms of thought, however, elections still have to be participated in, both in the interests of da'wah and in the interests of how union cadres are able to play a role in positioning themselves in the 2024 elections. Muhammadiyah is not affiliated with any politics, that is what Muhammadiyah has adhered to to date, even though Muhammadiyah always participates in its implementation. as well," concluded the Secretary General of Kornas IMM, Yusuf Warsyim, opening the recitation.

This recitation was presented by a well-known resource person in his field, Chair of the IMM FOKAL National Koran Advisory Board for the 2023-2028 period, Prof. Dr. Sirajudin Syamsuddin, MA, Ph.D., who highlighted the history of Muhammadiyah and its relationship with the world of politics. Muhammadiyah figures are directly involved in the political process. Syamsuddin assessed that the 1971 congress was contrary to Muhammadiyah's identity both ideologically, sociologically and historically.

Ideologically, including historically, Muhammadiyah in its historical trajectory since its birth has never been without politics. Ideologically, this is the incarnation of amar maruf nahi munkar which is glorified in the QS. Al-Imran: 104, Muhammadiyah is consistent and successful in the fields of education, health, social and empowerment services. In fact, the manifestation of amar maruf nahi munkar is political Sufism.

Followed by the General Chairperson of FOKAL IMM who also serves as Chancellor of  (UMJ), Prof. Dr. Ma'mun Murod, M.Sc., who believes that there needs to be a cultural force that separates Muhammadiyah from 'formalism'.

“The power of Muhammadiyah culture has recently become weaker and the power of the organization has strengthened. Because of the strength of this organization, the power of the organization spreads everywhere, including greatly coloring the face of the Muhammadiyah congregation, becoming very rigid people. On the other hand, purists in a political context, something that should not happen should happen. "Politics is a muamalah matter," said Ma'mun.

"I think it is important to build cultural strengths again. "I view this focus as a new force in the context of building cultural strength in Muhammadiyah," continued Ma'mun.

The recitation was also attended by the Leaders of the IMM FOKAL National Koran as well as the Muhammadiyah Campus Charity Business Leaders from various Muhammadiyah Universities in Indonesia.
